A look back at 2020

What a year. A quick look back the achievements of the learning and teaching academy ,  in addition to actions we had planned and the normal support we offer faculty teams , in what has been a extraordinary year. All this thanks to a great team and support from across the College.

  • Recruited 3 Additional LT Posts – to support transition to new blended learning model ( October 2020)
  • Created and delivered a highly successful Webinar programme from March 2020 / with 4500 attendees including 250 external delegates.graph  of webinar attendees
  • Quickly and efficiently moved to remote working – creating resources for teaching staff, support staff and students. Thanks to Wakelet.
  • Managed creation of the Fujitsu Learning Hub. (July 2020)
  • Created City of Glasgow College Standard for Moodle Courses and managed creation of the Learning Teaching and Delivery Strategy. (March- now)
  • Supported Roll out of Zoom licensed version in one week ( Aug 2020) and the in year roll out of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams.
  • Supported creation of a new Open Moodle specifically for pre induction programme for all learners. (May-August 2020)
  • Managed remotely roll out of new academic year version of Moodle.
  • Further embedded use of Clickview , Turnitin and Zoom. Our video on demand, plagiarism detection , and online video teaching platforms.
  • Created number of websites and assets as quick responses – for things like laptop and book return for IT/Library and student services
  • Supported IT Help desk at start of session and provided forensic support to diagnose some initial enrolment problems.
  • Managed Accessibility Audit and statement and supported the tender for broader College accessibility audit.
  • Produced : Articles in Herald , GTC News letter and other publications
  • Presented at number of national online conferences ( Clickview, Jisc , CDN Bridge Sessions , E-Assessment Question )
  • Created the LTA website and associated resources and maintained these
  • Nominated and won national commendation for Offsite Ready from CDN
  • NMIS stage one complete won funding for stage 2 . This to create resource for the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland.
  • Delivered projects and won funding from UHI Trust ( VocAcademy) for VR in assessment , and NESTA App for Adult literacies , VocAcademy for instructional video , Cognify for content creation In 2020 project funding now topped £250K.
  • Set up and developed WordPress Blog Capability and ongoing support for Journal Club and TDAP
  • Further developed Google Sites – functionality benefiting whole LTA team.
  • Supported creation of lecturer development strand of LTA
